Big Transition For the Greenawalts

If you have talked to us in depth recently, you know that we have been in a season of discernment about life. We have been asking big questions like 'what might be next?' and 'where might God be calling us?'. Here is a quick timeline of our story:

March 2011: It all started around a year ago when we felt something stirring in us. It came in the form of some unrest about being out of state from both of our families, and from a longing to try ministry in a different context (aka at a larger university).... While we have loved life in PA and ministry in Reading, we sensed God more and more calling us to something.... But what?!


Fall 2011: So we set out on a journey to listen to God. We prayed, asked tough questions, sought out spiritual mentors, began to explore and dream, and even invited some close friends to serve on a 'Clearness Committee' to help us sort through the jungle of thoughts in each of our minds. God held us closely through it all. We have had to learn to listen carefully to each other and be willing to each lay down personal desires for each other. We learned early on that we were excited to continue in college ministry with InterVarsity, but we weren't sure where that would happen.

January 2012: It became clear that it was time to leave Reading. With mixed emotions, but with peace about the decision, we began sharing this with PA friends and AC & AU students. We are going to miss students, friends, and church (Reading City Church).

February/March 2012: Gretchen and I traveled to Colorado & Ohio to interview at 3 different campuses with InterVarsity...

NOW: We are excited to announce that we just recently accepted positions to work at THE Ohio State University starting this fall! We will be moving at the end of June to Columbus to begin working with the undergrad chapter at OSU. We are excited to be much closer to family and to step out in ministry at a MUCH larger campus. (We prayed for a bigger campus and... well, God answered.... gulp)

so how do we celebrate a successful season of discernment??? Well, we get out the camera and take a bunch of fun pictures! Enjoy!
