Taking small steps of faith

NSO = a freezer full of Freeze pops!
For about 9 of the last 10 days, I have packed my up my car with things like freeze pops, lawn games, changes of clothing for 4pm ultimate frisbee, and a whole ton of Christian fellowship invitations and driven 15 minutes across town to Albright college to spend the day.  This glorious time of year is referred to as NSO in InterVarsity circles (new student outreach for those of you scoring at home).

I have felt excited, nervous, exhausted, and straight up thrilled to be at Albright this month.. Here are 3 quick stories of how God showed up during my first week:

Learning to take lots of new risks @ Albright
Ok God, It's been 20 minutes sitting in the student center with over 150 people walking by and I haven't recognized a single one, I guess you want me to meet someone new... Give me courage to introduce myself and could you please bring someone interested in Christian fellowship..... BOOM within minutes a freshman named Esther sits down and we chat briefly.  She replies yes that she is interested in checking out Christian community!

God, help me to connect with non white students on campus today (the fellowship is mostly white).  BOOM.. Albright has a gospel choir with many African American students who are excited to share Jesus on campus! (I'm going to the first meeting tomorrow!)

(2nd day of class prayer) Hey God, I would love to eat lunch with a student I know and meet their friends... If I'm gonna drop $8 for mediocre food, then I'd like to at least meet some people... BOOM... 1 of the 2 first year students that I knew at the time comes strolling by and accepts my invitation for lunch.  5 minutes later I have met 4 people on her hall.

Praise God for meeting me as I take steps day by day to meet new students, navigate a new campus, do ministry with the current student leaders, and learn what it means to be a IV staff at Albright.
